PATRIOTIC SERVICE
Patriotic Service is another integral mission of the National Society, the Georgia Society, and the Town Committees. America’s Vet Dogs is a new program embraced by all levels of the Society which provides the sponsorship of dogs trained to assist disabled veterans.
NATIONAL SERVICE
The Society of The Colonial Dames of America participates on a national level in the privately sponsored Congressional seminars, The Washington Workshops, by awarding scholarships to week-long seminars for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade high school students. Scholarships, awarded based on a 750-word essay on a topic chosen by the National Society, are also funded by the Georgia Society.
TOWN COMMITTEE SERVICE
On a Town Committee level, Dames attend naturalization ceremonies to welcome new citizens. The Marietta Town Committee won a NSCDA-GA Town Committee Grant and a Lamar Award from the National Society for their program for veterans. The Savannah Town Committee provides funding for a veterans’ garden at a Tiny House Project for homeless veterans.
