Founded in 1999 with the mission ‘to support and preserve the Andrew Low House c.1847, its collections and gardens’ Friends of the Andrew Low House [Friends] have accomplished so much in their seventeen years —
We have
- Purchased, conserved, restored, and returned to the house portraits of Andrew Low, Mary Low, and of other family members.
- Acquired furnishings for the collection including
- the Philadelphia card table in the library
- the Andre Roux shaving stand
- the Cohen chair
- numerous pieces throughout the house.
- Rescued and restored important documents and family papers
- Replaced the carpet on the main stair case.
- Contributed to every major project undertaken by the Andrew Low House, i.e. the 2007-08 conservation project & the garden restoration project in 2009.
Friends was reorganized in 2015 to provide a wider choice of annual membership levels and to allow members of the greater community who are interested in the Andrew Low House to become Friends of the Andrew Low House as well.
Here is a description of the benefits and opportunities being offered. If you joined in the past, please contribute at one of our new levels.
